Success Language:  Organizational Culture
eSeminar Overview

success language seminar - organizational culture

Welcome to the Success Language: Organizational Culture eSeminar. This is a five-lesson self-study program based on the principles of the Success Language program by Sylvia Henderson of Springboard Training.

The program consists of text to read for each lesson. Each lesson also contains questions for you to answer for yourself. You will not submit your answers for review or "grading". The questions are for your own self-reflection and action planning so that you apply the lessons to yourself and your unique situations. Resources and references for additional study are identified throughout the program so that you can expand your discovery beyond this program should you choose to do so. We want you to take success language as far as you want to go!

The purpose of this program is to expand your view of this concept of success language. We think that success language, on an individual basis, is a reasonably clear concept to embrace. Individuals adopt and adapt the characteristics of success language (which are defined in Lesson 1) in order to help themselves succeed in the workplace, professionally, and in life. The concept of success language can be expanded to encompass entire organizations through their cultures. This eSeminar allows you to explore this broader concept.

If you are a decision-maker within your organization, this eSeminar plants some ideas as to where—and how—to lead your organization to adopt a culture of success language. If you are an employee (or team member, family member, or other term used in your organization to define you), this eSeminar will suggest ways to adjust to your organization's culture to achieve the success you seek within the organization.

Success language embraces a collective set of skills and behaviors. There are few absolutes. What constitutes success language in one organization will differ for another. The important thing is to identify the culture of an organization—or to create a culture through leadership and top-level vision—and to choose whether you will take the actions you need to take to fit into the culture to succeed. It is difficult to effect change or advance within a cultural environ if you do not first get your foot in the door. It is also difficult to effect change or succeed within the organization if you cannot fit in, or find yourself out of the organization because of the choices you make. For individualists, this is a hard pill to swallow. However, there are ways to be individualists and still work within the organization's culture. No one need "give up who they are"; betray their own authenticity to become an organizational drone.
